Samsung Galaxy S II Plus gets Android 4.2.2 in Germany - even before the Galaxy S III and Mark II [XXUBMG8]

While users of last year's flagship Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II are still waiting for an update to Android 4.2.2, get the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus in Germany now just this Android iteration.

The update with the version number XXUBMG8 (more I9105PXXUBMG8) is available via KIES and brings some improvements in performance with it, also part of TouchWiz were adjusted.Since the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus with an approximately similar performance hardware as the Galaxy S II is an update to Android 4.2.2, it is quite likely that the Galaxy S II (conceived differently by Connect without any source) a receives update to Android 4.2.2.

That the Galaxy S II Plus now gets in front of the Galaxy S III and the Note II Android 4.2.2, in my opinion could have two reasons: Firstly, the less popular device could be a kind of guinea pig for the update - but for others, it might also indicate that Samsung will bring Android 4.3 for the Galaxy S III and Mark II actually directly.

Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A GT-I9506(phone) confirmed by Snapdragon 800 international market : sam4sammy

Samsung had originally introduced the Galaxy S4 in New York in two versions: one with an Exynos 5410 Octa on board and once as GT-I9505 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC 600 under the hood. A few weeks ago the Samsung SHV-E330 as Galaxy S4 LTE-A has then presented with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core at 2.3 GHz per core and strong Adreno 330 GPU for South Korea.
The reason for this was supplied by Samsung LTE Cat4, which is already quite popular in Korea, and can also be used with the Galaxy S4 LTE-A. In a few weeks it has sold over 150,000 units of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A - quite a success, Samsung will also introduce soon an international version of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A and GT-I9506. before yesterday there was a corresponding rumor , we provide you now the confirmation of a pre-production device (hence the relatively low value).
phone Samsung I9506 Galaxy S4 620x366 EXCLUSIVE: Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE A GT I9506 confirmed by Snapdragon 800 for the international marketSamsung I9506 Galaxy S 4 2 620x550 EXCLUSIVE: Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE A GT I9506 confirmed by Snapdragon 800 for the international market
When will introduce the Samsung GT-I9506 is not clear, the first rumor spoke of the 3rd September - . personally I highly doubt it that the IFA press days are on the 4th-6th So shortly before September imagine a version of the Galaxy S4 and possibly the attention of the Galaxy Note 3 or the SM P600 and SM P900 (let us surprise you, it's worth it) off, I think is unlikely. It's not impossible, but I suspect that Samsung will introduce a few more weeks before the IFA, the Galaxy S4 LTE-A GT-I9506 and then later exhibit at IFA. For the IFA has hopes of launching LTE Cat4 of some large German providers, the date would not be so far the wrong.
Personally, I think an international launch of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A for little wise: While you offers that with the first supplier at all a device that supports LTE Cat4 in Europe, however, likely that many buyers of the Galaxy S4 be a little excited (!) that less than 5 months after the launch of the Galaxy S4 already a more powerful version appears. On the other hand, bring other manufacturers soon device with a Snapdragon 800 on the market and so it is quite understandable that Samsung wants to continue play in terms of performance and LTE at the top - in my opinion, customer friendliness is just different.  way: I would still be a Galaxy Buy S4. This currently costs around 38964.98 Indian Rupee in India, the LTE-A is likely to be much higher.

YouTube turns eight, reveals over 100 hours of video being uploaded every minute

youtube_logo_635.jpg

YouTube has revealed that over 100 hours of video are now being uploaded to the world's most popular video-sharing site.
The company shared this information via a blog post celebrating eight years of existence of the web site that started in May 2005, and was acquired by Google for $1.65 billion in November 2006.
Today, more than 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. That's more than four days of video uploaded each minute! Every month, more than 1 billion people come to YouTube to access news, answer questions and have a little fun. That's almost one out of every two people on the Internet.
The impressive stat comes barely a couple of months after YouTube revealed it had reached one billion monthly users. "If YouTube were a country, we'd be the third largest in the world after China and India," the company had said at the time.
More recently, YouTube had launched paid channels, in a move that puts it in direct competition with services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon. The company released a list of some 50 channels which will be part of the program. Subscription rates go as high as $7.99 per month.
"Every channel has a 14-day free trial, and many offer discounted yearly rates," a YouTube blog post said.
The new paid channels include Acorn TV, which offers British TV programs at $4.99 per month; National Geographic Kids, at $2.99 a month or $30 a year; and PrimeZone Sports, at $2.99 per month. Other channels offer programming from UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), Comedy.tv, and iAmplify Fitness. A children's channel from Sesame Street is coming soon.

Jolla unveils first Sailfish OS smartphone with Android apps compatibility

Jolla-phone.jpg
Finland based mobile startup, Jolla, has unveiled its first smartphone that runs on the Sailfish OS which has been developed in-house by the company.

It's not clear if the company has announced a name for the phone but it's using the term "The Other Half," derived from the phone's removable back that comes in different colours, and changing the cover also changes the phone's look and feel inline with its colour. The phone is priced at 399 Euros.

The phone features a 4.5-inch display and will be powered by a dual-core processor. It will sport an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus and will offer 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card. The phone is "Android app compliant" which indicates that it will be capable of running Android apps though it's not clear at this stage if it will directly support them or require developers to port them similar to how they work with BlackBerry 10. The phone will also feature 4G LTE connectivity.

As we mentioned, the phone runs the gesture-based Sailfish OS which is based on MeeGo which received acclaim when it launched on Nokia's N9 smartphone. However, Nokia abandoned MeeGo and chose Windows Phone as the future OS platform for its smartphones,  following which a group of employees of Nokia's MeeGo unit left the company to start Jolla and work on their own smartphone.

Jolla targets to ship the smartphone by end of 2013 and has introduced a Kickstarter-like 'Movement' in which people can participate by pre-ordering the phone. This will also be used by the company to gauge the response to its offering so that it can decide if there is demand for it. One can opt for a zero-cost pre-order option to reserve the phone when it launches, or pay 40 Euros for a limited edition phone and a t-shirt along with assured priority status. One can also pay 100 Euros and get all the goodies along with an extra back cover and 100 Euros off on the total price.

The number of countries where the phone will be shipped will be disclosed later and the 399 Euros price only includes VAT in Europe, so shipping costs, local taxes and duties will be extra.

Kerala software engineer develops software that detects movie bootleggers

piracy.jpg

A Kerala-based software engineer has come up with an anti-piracy device to check recording of movies in theaters using sophisticated mobile phones or handy-cams.

Varghese Babu told IANS here that the product, which has gone for patent processing, was developed after three years of research.
"It has been named as 'Demolish Duplica' and has a hardware unit which is placed in movie theaters  The moment anyone tries to record a film, the hardware unit recognizes it and stops the recording. An alert is sent to a server and the anti-piracy cell of police," Babu said.
The product has been priced at Rs.1.5 million, the 30-year-old software engineer said.
"The serial number of the mobile phone or the handy cam gets recorded on the hardware device, and details of the location from where the recording is being done can be accessed by the authorities," Babu added.
He added that the product can also track tampering of the film during the editing process.
Responding to whether it is the only such product available in the market, Babu said: "Had there been any other application available, there would have been no pirated versions available of new releases."
"I have been receiving inquiries from the film industry and at the moment I am completing the formalities for getting this patented," Babu said.

On the inside, the device is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 512MB of RAM and has 8GB of internal storage with microSD support up to 64GB. Windows Phone users can also make use of the additional 7GB SkyDrive storage.
The smartphone boasts connectivity options like NFC, Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi. It comes with a 1,300mAh battery claiming up to 15 hours of talk time (2G).
The company had first launched the Lumia 620, along with the Lumia 920 and 820 in India, in January. The device was earlier available for pre-order on flipkart.com for Rs. 15,199.
Nokia is betting big on the Lumia 620's 'dual-shot' technique, which helps in creating new colours and textures for this smartphone. So what this 'dual shot' actually does is cast two layers of polycarbonate, a single base layer and a second colour, in a transparent/ translucent layer, to produce depth effects and secondary colour blends. For example, yellow and cyan are combined to produce a lime green colour.
At the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC), Nokia had also showcased its Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 smartphones. Nokia Lumia 720 sports a 4.3-inch display and its screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 2. Internally, the smartphone packs in Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with a 1GHz dual-core processor. It comes with 512MB of RAM and 2,000mAh battery.
Nokia Lumia 520 on other hand boasts of 4-inch screen with a display resolution of 480x800 pixels. Lumia 520 also comes with dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 512 MB of RAM. The internal storage available on the device is 8GB and can be expanded by another 64GB via microSD card.
There is a 1,430mAh battery on board Lumia 520, which as per company claims gives 9.60 hours of talk time and standby time of 15 days. It has a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera.
